The Positive Energy House is inspired by nature’s ability to adapt and renew. It is the home of Wang Shi, a well-known advocate of environmental sustainability. As a net-positive energy house it goes beyond minimizing negative environmental impact and actively contributes to a more resilient future by generating more energy than it uses. The design is a renovation of an existing property. Higher energy efficiency and greater natural ventilation is achieved through two layers of intervention. An interstitial layer of insulation and operable openings is added to the existing property to improve energy efficiency and airflow. A third layer of curved roofs covered in solar panels is added to the building to provide shade and generate electricity.
